My battery indicator is stuck at 27% but the details show different

As you can see in the screenshot below, the battery indicator (which shows in the bottom right corner) shows my battery is at 27% and has been showing this for the past day or two, even after being left alone charged and closed overnight. When opening the full details, you can see it shows it's at 91% for Battery 1 with the 25% battery indicator. How do I fix this? A reset did not correct the issue.

    Hello MsSwiftFarrow,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community.

We're sorry to hear about this issue on your device. We understand how frustrating this could be. Definitely, not the experience we want you to have.

This might be an issue with the battery driver, software conflict or a potential hardware problem. Please give these methods a try first and see if it helps.

Force a shut down and restart your Surface

    • Press and hold down the power button until your Surface shuts down and restarts and you see the Windows logo screen (about 20 seconds), then release the power button.

    Run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type Surface Diagnostic Toolkit, then select it in the list of results.
If it's not already installed, you can download it from the Microsoft Store.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions in the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit.

Remove the battery driver and install updates

    • Plug in your Surface. Open Device manager. Select the arrow next to the Batteries category.
    • Double-tap or double-click Microsoft Surface ACPI-Compliant Control Method Batteryor Surface Battery, select the Driver tab, and select Uninstall device > OK. You can also right-click Microsoft Surface ACPI-Compliant Control Method Batteryor Surface Battery and select Uninstall device.
    • Select the computer at the top of all the categories, select the Action menu, and then select Scan for hardware changes. Leave your Surface plugged in.

Update Windows. Ensure all pending updates are installed.

    • Check for Windows updates. Select Start > Settings > Windows Update.

Let me know how it goes. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Regards,

    StevenK
