I accidently dropped my pen in water for less than one second. The tip will no longer draw but the eraser end works just find. Any tips on what to do?

    Hi HannahMcFarlane,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community and posting your inquiry.

This could be a pen or driver related issue. We suggest the following:

    • Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit and check Windows Update.

    • Reseat the pen tip, and test on the app.

    • Replace the pen tip.

    • Open Device Manager then go to Human Interface Devices > look for "Uninstall HID-Compliant Touch Screen" > Right-click on HID-Compliant Touch Screen > Uninstall (if you're seeing two HID Compliant Touch Screen, Uninstall the two drivers).

    • Under Human Interface Device, Right-click on Intel(R) Precise Touch Device and select Uninstall. • After uninstalling the drivers, make sure to Restart the device to give the drivers a refresh.

If the issue continues to happen, please install and Download the drivers and firmware for your Surface:

    • Choose Surface Pro 7 then click Download on the next page.

    • Choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next.

    • After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.

Please respond to this thread to let me know how the issue progresses. Similarly, if you have more questions, please inform me by replying to this post.

    Kind regards,

    John Neil_J
