Missing Show message and content previews in notifications in Teams on MacOS

Hey guys,

there is no "Show message and content previews in notifications" in MS Teams on MacOS

Nor any similar option that would hide the content, but not the name of the sender / channel

However, I can see such option (and use it for years) in a build for Windows

Tried to set "Show previews" in the System Settings->Notifications, but it hides everything (including the sender / channel name)

MacOS, Sequoia 15.5

MS Teams 25151.505.3727.5755Clear installation

Seems to a missing feature for MacOS

    Hi Tomek, Šimon
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Unfortunately, it seems that this particular notification setting is not available on Teams for Mac. I’ve reviewed the article Manage notifications in Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Support, and there’s no mention of this setting for Mac users, only for Windows. Additionally, I found a related post in the Microsoft Community forum and there a Mac user report this too: Hide Teams message and content previews in notifications during - Microsoft Community , which confirms the same limitation.

It’s very likely that this is by design. The article does mention Teams for Mac like illustration below, and it appears that notifications for chats, channels, mentions, and apps rely heavily on OS-level settings. As a result, the in-app notification settings on Mac are more limited compared to Teams on Windows.

I agree that it’s quite inconvenient not to have such an important setting available on Teams for Mac. If this feature is critical to your workflow, I highly encourage you to submit feedback directly to Microsoft via this guide: Give feedback in Microsoft Teams - Microsoft
