Other issues or features related to Microsoft Edge on Windows 11
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
I just noticed that when I click on the three dots on the top of the browser, at the bottom, it mentions "Managed by your organization" but my wife and I don't work from home, we don't go to school, we don't log into work resources from home. But the browser is running noticeably slower. None of my malware scanners are picking up anything, and I can't get rid of it.
Need help.
Other issues or features related to Microsoft Edge on Windows 11
Hello Daniel Jones,
The phrase "Managed by your organization" indicates that some settings for Edge have been applied from outside of the browser. It's quite possible for policies to be set by a different program on the computer, e.g. a security suite (e.g. Webroot), a privacy-enhancing tool (e.g. O&O Shutup10), a browser extension (e.g. WebAdvisor) or by malware. They can also be set by the user personally, so the phrase managed by your organization can be really misleading.
You can go to edge://policy to see all the policies applied to your browser. Normally, the policies are unharmful and you should not worry about it but if you see a suspicious policy, you can follow these steps to remove the policy.
edge://policy/.DeveloperToolsAvailability, ExtensionInstallForcelist, etc.).Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter.Depending on how the policy was applied, check these paths:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Microsoft\Edge
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Microsoft\Edge
ExtensionInstallForcelist).Do not delete the entire
Edgekey unless you want to remove all policies.
edge://policy/ to confirm the policy is gone. For further information, please refer to this article: Why is Edge saying 'Your browser is managed by your organization'? - Microsoft Community

The issue was not the policies themselves but with the fact that the policies kept coming back. I was able to remove them over and over which removes the message Managed by your organization from the browser each time. However, an hour or two later they would return and my new tab would show the suspicious URL. Which led me down the path that there was a malicious program in scheduled tasks. This wasn't the case either.
The solution for me was discovering that at some point in my child's computer account was linked to an organization years ago and when they borrowed a computer from the school it triggered all associated accounts linked to their account to be managed. So I would advise all people who have children with school accounts to make sure they didn't inadvertently opt-in to be managed by that organization.
I was able to find the help I needed from another great community post which I have lost the link to. But to summarize the steps were quite easy:
To get rid of this school organization link you can go to Windows Settings > Account and disconnect any family settings that are linked to Outside accounts.
