Internal users in entra Id showing up as external

I have an user with an internal domain which shows up as external and it is not possible to convert to internal as the account already exists.

This is a full cloud AD and we don't sync users with other tenants.

Is there a solution to this?

    Based on your query, I understand the internal user has shown as external and you would like to convert back into internal user.

    Based on our conversation, here is the preferred solution to convert the user to internal: Convert external users to internal users. We have changed the domain suffix to another verified domain and converted the user to internal domain with required domain suffix.
