- Can Azure DevOps data be stored only in Singapore?
In short - no - Azure DevOps currently does not support region-specific data residency such as storing data exclusively in Singapore.
Azure DevOps services are primarily hosted in Microsoft’s central Azure DevOps scale units, which are not bound to a specific Azure region. As of now, Microsoft stores Azure DevOps data in a few global locations, such as the United States, Europe, or South East Asia (SEA) - but SEA is not limited to Singapore. Even when hosted in SEA, exact physical data center location (e.g., Singapore vs. other SEA countries) is not guaranteed.
- Can Disaster Recovery (DR) / replication stay within Singapore only?
In short, no - Azure DevOps does not guarantee that DR/replication will stay within Singapore.
DR and high availability for Azure DevOps are managed by Microsoft and typically involve geo-replication. If the primary Azure DevOps scale unit is in Southeast Asia, Microsoft might replicate to another SEA location—but again, this is not confined to Singapore.
If you need strict data sovereignty in Singapore, consider Azure DevOps Server (on-premises). You can host it entirely within Singapore and manage your own DR policies.
