*“Need help merging or aligning Azure and Microsoft 365 accounts under a single tenant.”

We recently migrated our O365 plan from GoDaddy to MS, but the Azure account and the O365 account have different home directories and we cannot add the O365 users to the Purview tools under Azure. Neither the O3656 support teams nor the Azure support teams have been able to solve this for us. We have fairly substantial data collections under both accounts and are hoping for a relatively simple solution.*

    Hi @Anoop Elgonda ,

There’s a tenant mismatch between Azure and Microsoft 365—each uses separate identity directories.

As a result, tools like Microsoft Purview can’t access users across both platforms.

    Solution Overview

Align or merge tenants so both Azure and Microsoft 365 users share the same tenant identity.

    Microsoft provides guidance via:

    -Purview account merge best practices

    -Microsoft 365 tenant roadmap

    -Subscription and license alignment resources

    Next Steps

-Contact a Microsoft Partner or support team to assist with tenant-to-tenant migration or identity rehoming.

-Use cross-tenant synchronization or directory reconfiguration to unify services.

-Consider migrating workloads via Microsoft FastTrack tools for a smoother transition.

If this fixes the issue, please mark as resolved to help others with find it.
