I'm unable to sign into my Microsoft Account in the Authenticator app.

I was logged out of my account in the Authenticator app for no reason. Being logged in means I get to click a 2-digit code that pops in the app.

So I tried signing in using my email, but its asking me to click on the 2-digit number appearing in the app(?) Mind you I cannot receive the 2-Digit number because I'm logged out. So its basically a paradox, one loop that I cant solve.

I tried using the 2nd option which was signing in using my password. After I entered my password, it goes to a blank page with error code 'Too Many Requests'.

Anyways, I tried using the 3rd option which was to send a security code to my alternate email. I received the code and when I entered it in, its asking me to reset the password of my main account(which I was trying to log in the Authenticator app). I reset anyways but it didnt resolve my issue and that didnt help me sign in as well coz I didnt have trouble with my password.

Lastly, I tried the last option which was to send a code to my registered phone number. Also not helpful because I'm not able to received the code.

MICROSOFT TEAM, HELP.

    Hi Syamsul,

Thanks for your detailed explanation. You're caught in a common MFA lockout loop. Here's a structured way to solve it:

    Problem Summary:

You're locked out of your Microsoft account because:

    • The Authenticator app requires approval using the same app you're locked out of (paradox).

Password reset works, but does not bypass MFA.

Alternate email and phone recovery are not helping.

You're stuck in a loop with no working second factor.

    Why This Happens:

Microsoft's multi-factor authentication (MFA) system prioritizes the most secure method (Authenticator app) by default. If that method is broken and no valid fallback exists (phone, alternate email, or backup codes), you're locked out.

    Steps to Recover Your Account:

Option 1: Use Microsoft’s Account Recovery Form

If no 2FA method is working, go directly to the official recovery form:

Enter your blocked account (e.g., you@example.com).

Provide any backup email address you have access to.

Fill in the form with as many details as possible to verify identity.

Microsoft will review and contact you via the backup email.

This is the only way to recover a personal Microsoft account when locked out of MFA.

Option 2: Use This Link to Manage Sign-In Options (if accessible)

If you can access https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info from any trusted device, you can:

Remove the Authenticator app as a method

    Add new phone/email methods

But from your message, it seems you're fully locked out. So this may not work anymore.

Option 3: Contact Microsoft Support (if recovery fails)

    Go to https://support.microsoft.com

Choose “Contact Support” > Account & Billing > Can't sign in

Use the support chat or call option

Explain that you’re locked out of your account due to MFA loop

    Important Notes:

    • Resetting your password does not remove MFA or reset the Authenticator app requirement.
    • If your phone number is not working for recovery, update it once you regain access.
    • In future, enable backup options like:
      • SMS
      • Backup email
      • App recovery backup (iCloud or Google Drive)
      • Print recovery codes for safe keeping

    Summary:

Use https://account.live.com/acsr for recovery. This is the correct and official route if all MFA methods are broken. Microsoft support may also assist you if this doesn’t resolve the issue.

Let me know if you’d like help filling out the recovery form.

    Best of luck, Martin

Hi. Now I'm not able to sign in my Outlook at all and I've lost access to my email both in my phone and PC. The authenticator app still wont let me sign in using my personal account.

In the Outlook app, I cant even log in using my password because its asking for the code from the authenticator app. Please help
