View members of default Sharepoint groups

Hi

Can someone advise where it is possible to view the members of the default groups created for a Sharepoint site in O365 ? These are the "SiteName Members", "SiteName Owners" and "SiteName Visitors" groups.

I can't find these groups by searching for groups on the main O365 page. I also can't view the actual group members if I go into the advanced permissions settings on the site permissions page, which show the permissions each group has.

Based on your description, looks like you need to view all members of the site.First, go to advanced permissions settings. Then choose Members.

Rename the URL to groupID=0.

It will show all members in that site.

Not sure this is giving me what we need. The GroupId for Members is 5 as you said. But the ID for Visitors is 4 and Owners is 3. If I change the Id in the URL to 0 I just get the same results each time.

What we need is a list of the users who are in each of the groups. Just like any other group where you find the group and check the members of the group. But, as I said, these groups don't show up in the standard list of groups in Azure/Entra.

Thanks for your clarification.

So, my thought is like this:

For example, you have 5 sites, you want to have a list of all members in 5 sites, all owners in 5 sites, all visitors in 5 sites. Is it correct?

Or do you want to know the members, visitors, owners of each site?

If you want option 2, you just need to click on a specific site > settings > site permissions > advance site permissions > choose Members/Owners/Visitors.

It will show the members of that group. Additionally, these groups are SharePoint groups, stored in SharePoint site, you can check them by navigate to Admin Center > scroll down and select SharePoint Admin Center > Active sites > choose the site and click on membership. It will show up the members.

Hi

It's more like option 2 but not quite.

if you go into the site and look at the Site Owners/Members/Visitors it only lists the groups "SiteName Owners", "SiteName Members" or "SiteName Visitors" unless we have added any additional users/groups.

We just need to know how to find out who is actually a member of the default groups for a site. As I've said, these don't show up in a normal search for groups.

Thanks for that detail, I assume you are using Team site.

When you create a Team site, a 365 group will be created as well.

Please scroll down to tab Site member. It will show a group with an email address.

Go back to Admin Center > Active team and group > look for that group email.

Click Membership and you will see the members in it.

Yes I checked this but it doesn't find the email address that shows for the group either. I think we'll just need to assume the groups are empty. Since we can't find them, it's unlikely anyone can add members to these groups specifically.
