OneDrive Personal Vault - some individual files not displaying in web version, how do I get these to display? (OneDrive, Safari browser, MacBook)

Note: Personal use (not business) on Safari browser on MacBook (not Windows) - please disregard these default tags.

After signing into my Personal Vault, individual files are not displaying in OneDrive in the web version using Safari on MacBook, but are displaying in the iOS mobile app version on iPhone and iPad. When clicking on a file in the folder list, a blank screen is displayed - not the contents of the selected files, it only shows a "1/1" and "X" in the top right corner of a blank page. No error message is displayed.

This behavior is consistent, not sporadic. I have executed all updated, cleared all browser cache, and tried Edge and Google browsers with the same results. I have refreshed the pages and checked settings (not sure what to check for).

This failure to display affects files with the following prefixes: .pdf, .jpg, .jpeg, .txt, .png, .rtf, and mp4 (perhaps other prefixes).

Files with native Microsoft prefixes do display correctly, like: .docx, and .xlsx (perhaps other prefixes).

These files were previously being displayed, but recently stopped; I am unaware of any cause between the times when I was able to see the files and now.

How do I get these to display again?

I am experiencing the same issue, in Windows machines (Win10 desktop & multiple Win11 Laptops). I have tried Edge, FireFox and Chrome Browsers. This issue is only for JPG files in Personal Vault. JPG files under Photos open just fine. In my iPhone these files open without any issue.

I am using the OneDrive web version (I do not use desktop version) and am also experiencing the same problem using my MacBook Pro after updating to macOS Sequoia 18.6. PDF and JPG files open for a second and then disappear. WORD and EXCEL files open as expected. This behavior occured using both Safari and Google Chrome browsers. Any PDF and JPG files in OneDrive that are not within PERSONAL VAULT open without problem. This behavior does NOT occur within PERSONAL VAULT using the OneDrive app on my iPhone 13 Pro Max (which I also updated 8/6/25 to iOS 18.6).

UPDATE: I tried the recommendation about navigating to Safari settings>Websites and clearing all automatically stored websites that I allow downloads from. Plus, in System Settings>Network, toggle Firewall off then back on. Then restart. Safari still is not working, but Chrome has started working.

Thanks you for your quick response. Here is a bit more testing...

Unfortunately, after I followed the instructions, the actions listed did not solve the problem. I also read the comments from others related to the similar issues and found no solution.

I continued with the following individual actions, but none of these actions solved the problem:

I turned off my VPN, no solution.

Installed the OneDrive app (from the Apple App Store), then set the app (as suggested) to "Always allow pop-ups and redirects from http://onedrive.live.com 443," then restart, no solution.

I installed the OneDrive app (from the Microsoft web site via the browser), also uninstalled from any synced devices and set the app to remove this apps data from Microsoft Edge, no solution; then uninstalled the app and restarted, no solution.

I deleted the OneDrive app for Mac from Microsoft, restarted, no solution.

I reinstalled the OneDrive app for Mac from the Apple App Store, established a new OneDrive folder in the Mac Finder app (previous folder was deleted), set the login items and extensions on the Mac to allow those to run in the background, no solution.

I can add individual files to the list of files in the Personal Vault and those continue to be displayed correctly in iOS on iPhone and iPad, but not displayed on the OneDrive web site or on either of the two OneDrive apps, no solution.

IMPORTANT TEST: I used a different Microsoft Account, opened OneDrive on the web, added a folder and various files to the Personal Vault; however, those individual files did not display (same problem), even though they were in the folder list. This resulted in no solution for the display issue. This test result, indicates that the problem does not seem to be with a particular Microsoft Account, since both accounts did not display the individual files listed in the Personal Vault folder.

None of these actions have resulted in a solution: the individual files still do not display, same as I described in my original post.

Any other ideas, I have run out of thoughts. Need help.
