Word on the web - unable to paste a URL or content using right select on mouse

Our users have reported being unable to paste a URL from the clipboard into the Word on the web Link dialogue box. The expected mouse right select doesn't bring up a paste option, but CTRL and V works as expected and can be used as a known workaround. Missing the option to right select is causing confusion as other dialogue boxes in Word on the web work that way.

Hi Nathaniel, Im an Independent Advisor here to help! The reason why you cant use ctrl+v is because of browser security limits access. If youre using the Office.com you may be able to use ctrl+V by downloading extension. Based on your description, looks like you cannot right click to bring up the paste panel.

First of all, I am so sorry about this inconvenience you are facing.

I have tried it on my side and encountered the exact issue like yours.

This feature is currently unavailable, and I do understand why it is necessary for you and all customers.

In the meantime, please use Ctrl + V as an alternative.

I recommend you raise your valuable ideas via Feedback Portal.

Microsoft will listen and try their best to enhance customer experience.

Hi Jayden,

Thanks for coming back and confirming this issue, I've raised it as feedback so hopefully Microsoft can address this so the user experience is more consistent with dialogue boxes in Word on the web.
