Why is my BIOS listed as Legacy and Secure Boot listed as unsupported when my BIOS says otherwise?

I have been trying to update my OS to Win11, but I am constantly told by the update tool that I need secure boot to be supported. However, my BIOS on my Asus Motherboard, which I know after I updated my BIOS is Win11 friendly, states that secure boot is enabled. I also noticed that my BIOS has UEFI enabled, which I understand is needed for Win11. I just reinstalled Win10 on my computer too, and in MSinfo32 it states that the BIOS is in 'legacy' mode, and that Secure Boot is unsupported, preventing me from upgrading to Win11. I'm not sure which to believe, the BIOS or msinfo32. Either way, I can't upgrade to Won11 for free. Should I buy a Win11 license? Would that work?

    Hi there,

I'm Cherrelyn, I'm here to help and I understand how confusing this situation can be.

    Please try these suggestion:

    1. Back up your data.
    2. Use MBR2GPT to safely convert your drive to GPT: Run Command Prompt as admin and enter: mbr2gpt /convert /allowfullos
    3. After conversion, enable UEFI and Secure Boot again in BIOS.
    4. Reboot and check msinfo32 it should now say UEFI and Secure Boot: On.
    5. Then try upgrading to Windows 11 again.

No need to buy a new license if you're already running an activated copy of Windows 10.

Let me know about my suggestion, I'm here to guide you for further assistance.

    Warm regards,

    Cherrelyn
