Battery Check: Primary - Very Weak (70)

Primary: logic state - Very Weak (70), Charge state - Not available (this was plugged into a charger during the test)

Product ID: 1H8C1UA#ABA Primary Battery

Test type: Battery Result: Failed

Failure ID: 9LMXKF-AK4CMR-XD7U2K-C9CG03

This is the Test log for my recent battery test for the HP Pavilion Gaming laptop 15.

Recently we plugged a lamp in and the lamp short circuited the whole room and made it smell like copper. The laptop charger wasnt on the surge protector while charging the computer and it started notifying us that the battery was having problems. After a component test, the result above is what we got.

Is the battery toast or will it recover? Is there something I can do to fix it? What does the Failure ID mean? And can I continue to use the laptop without replacing the battery? If so, what symptoms can I expect?

That Failure ID is just a generic code and cannot be resolved to a result, however, the 'Battery Result: Failed' is a bit worrying, but it would be unusual for a short circuit in the same room to affect the battery in a laptop.

Open Device Manager (accessible by right clicking your Start Button)

    Expand the Batteries section

For each device in that section:

    Right click and choose Disable

Then right click and choose Enable

    Close Device Manager

Then, restart your laptop and run the battery test again, to see if it completes successfully.
