Does a yearly subscriber to MS Office suite on MacBook need a Microsoft Entra ID tenant (whatever the hell that is)?

I subscribed to Microsoft Office for Apple MacBook. Before I bought the MacBook, I subscribed on a Windows 10 computer. I switched the subscription to my new MacBook. I use Office strictly for personal use, not for business, and I am not part of any organization. On July 5 I get an email about making some "purchase" by Aug. 5 to keep a Microsoft Entra ID tenant account active. I have never heard a word about Entra before and have no idea what MS is talking about, although the email sounds ominous and seems to threaten some bad result if I don't do what it instructs. Can anyone answer a simple question: does a yearly subscriber to the MS Office set of programs need to maintain an Entra ID tenant? If so, why?

Microsoft Entra is for business customers; see https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/fundamentals/whatis. As a personal user of Office, you don't need it.
