The issue involves a PC that crashes when starting or playing games, often restarting itself without displaying anything. Observations include peak spinning of both the GPU and CPU fans until the power cable is unplugged. Additionally, at idle times, the CPU and SSD usage are consistently at 100% in Windows Task Manager.

System Specifications:

  • OS: Windows 11 Pro
  • GPU: 3070 Ti
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
  • RAM: 16 GB (8x2)
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 Gaming X

Guidance is requested on potential troubleshooting steps and where to begin addressing these issues.

Hi, I'm Thileep K, and I'm happy to assist you!

Could you check if your computer is generating any minidump files?

    1. Open File Explorer and navigate to:

    C:\Windows\Minidump

    1. If you find any .dmp files, please zip them.
    2. Upload the zipped file to Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, or any file-sharing site.
    3. Share the link here so I can analyze the files.

Once I have the minidumps, I'll review them to identify what might be causing the crashes.

For more details on sharing crash dumps, you can refer to this thread:

I apologize for the inconvenience. It looks like the minidump file link is restricted due to permissions. Could you please check the link settings and share it publicly so I can access and analyze the file?

    Looking forward to your response!

Based on the minidump analysis, the amdppm.sys appears to be the cause of the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD).

To resolve this issue, I recommend the following steps:

    1. Visit your PC or motherboard manufacturer's support website and download the latest AMD chipset drivers compatible with your system and Windows version.
    2. Modify a Registry Setting
      • Press Start, type regedit, right-click on it, and select Run as administrator
      • Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\amdppm
      • Double-click on Start and change the value to 4
      • Close the Registry Editor and restart your system

This change disables the amdppm driver, which can help improve system stability if the driver is causing issues.

Have you installed God of War Ragnarok on your system? If so, try uninstalling it and see if the issue still occurs.
