All of a sudden Edge no longer remembers all my cookies

First it happened yesterday, I didn't make any changes. I opened Edge as usual. I was surprised to find that all the websites in my favorites were turned into a network icon. When I clicked on them, all the websites were in a non-logged-in state (like brand new?). In addition, my browsing history and "recently closed" records were all lost. I checked the cookies, and it didn't show anything. (Settings->Manage cookies)

I immediately checked that there was an update available for Edge, and I updated it. After the update, I restarted Edge, and the problem was immediately solved, and all cookies seemed to be displayed normally. But when I opened Edge again today, the same problem occurred. I needed to log in to my account again on various websites. The difference is that this time the cookies still showed normally. But I still need to log in again to visit the website.

Other:

Edge still remembers my account and key.

I usually use a workspace, which has about a dozen websites. They are not affected in any way (but they still need to log in again).

I use version 138.0.3351.65 (64-bit). Windows11. No system updates.

I have confirmed that no other devices using this account have been deleted or modified.

Does anyone have any ideas? Is this a minor issue with Edge lately? Or is there something I'm overlooking?

I hope to make the question as clear as possible, thank you for reading carefully.

This has been something I've noticed frequently on the Dev, Release preview, & stable installs of Windows 11. I've only been able to resolve this quickly by restarting my computer.

Another is when a row of images in a shopping page goes blank. The quickest way to resolve this is to zoom in or out using CTRL plus + or -

These are only temporary solutions though and its super annoying when it happens

    Hello, night owl7292

Thank you for your detailed description. This is indeed a very frustrating issue, especially since it keeps recurring. The symptoms you are experiencing—bookmark icons turning into generic icons, websites requiring re-login, and lost browsing history and recently closed records—strongly indicate that the Microsoft Edge user profile is corrupted or that the browser failed to save session data properly when it was closed. Here are some troubleshooting solutions:

    1. Create a new Edge user profile:

    Open Edge.

Click the three dots in the top-right corner ... -> Settings.

Select “Profiles” from the left-hand navigation bar.

Below your current profile, click “Add profile.”

Select “Add,” then choose “Start without signing in” (or sign in with your Microsoft account if you prefer).

After creating the new profile, switch to it (click your avatar in the top-right corner and select the newly created profile).

Browse some websites in the new profile, log in to your account, then close Edge and reopen it a few times to see if the issue reoccurs.

If the new profile does not exhibit the issue, it is almost certain that your original profile is corrupted. In this case, you may consider using the new profile as your primary profile and attempt to import data such as bookmarks from the old profile into the new one.

    1. Repair Microsoft Edge:

Right-click the Windows Start menu button and select “Settings.”

    Click “Apps” -> “Installed apps.”

Find “Microsoft Edge” in the app list.

Click the three dots (...) on the right side of Edge and select “Modify” or “Advanced options.”

Click “Repair.” This will attempt to repair Edge's installation files without deleting your data.

    1. If you have enabled sync functionality, you can test this issue using the Edge beta version.
