Why am I challanged to resign in and authenticate?

A curiosity as a question, if I may? When I open Edge and am logged onto my O365 admin page, and with another tab opened to a news site, clicking on OneNote Web Clipper issues a logon request which I complete with username, password, and authenticator.
Why am I callanged to reauthenticate when I have 1. logged onto Windows (including my work account, and 2. have my O365 admin page open in the same MS Edge window?
Thanks for humoring me with such a naive question

Carolyne-3676 1,116 Reputation points2026-02-09T11:21:12.9+00:00 It is likely that the OneNote Web Clipper runs as a browser extension and requests its own OAuth tokens for OneNote/Graph, which are separate from your existing Azure Portal / O365 admin session cookies, so SSO doesn’t automatically carry over even in the same Edge window.
