After the most recent Word update, the hyperlinks show up as XML code

After the most recent Office365 update, all the hyperlinks in a document are now displayed as XML code (e.g., {HYPERLINK "https://...."} not as links. Please provide a solution.

2025-07-06T18:00:40.83+00:00 On a Mac, use Command + A to select all, followed by Option + F9. F9 alone only updates fields, it doesn't switch field display.

2025-07-06T18:25:28.9766667+00:00 Thank you for this tip, but it did not work. I suspect MS will issue a new update as soon that will fix this issue because it only started happing on the one computer where I updated Office.

As an alternate method, please choose Word>Preferences>View, then uncheck the option for Field codes instead of values.

- then on the right hand side scroll down to the section called:-
Show document content
- and then remove the tick from the field called:-
Show field codes instead of their values
- so that that field’s blank then click:-
