Bangladeshi Phone Numbers Not Supported for 2FA and others, Limited Xbox Support in Bangladesh

Respected Microsoft Support,

As a Bangladeshi user, I have faced a problem while trying to add my Bangladeshi phone number to my Microsoft account. The platform is not compatible with Bangladeshi numbers for recovery and verification of the account, hence limiting critical features like two-step verification and security notifications.

In addition, Xbox support in Bangladesh appears to be significantly limited. Many services are unavailable or only partially functional, thereby affecting the quality of the user experience.

I would like to ask for clarification on the following matter:

Why are Bangladeshi phone numbers not supported?

Do you have any upcoming plans to improve Xbox and account support in Bangladesh?

Do you have a suggested alternative for Bangladesh users during this transitional phase?

In Bangladesh, many Xbox users face difficulties because local phone numbers are not supported for two-factor authentication (2FA). This means players cannot easily secure their accounts using Bangladeshi numbers, which is frustrating for those who want extra protection. To set up 2FA, users often have to rely on email or use an international number, which is not always possible. This gap creates challenges for ordinary gamers who simply want a smooth and safe experience.

Another limitation is the lack of proper Xbox support in Bangladesh. The region is not officially recognized, so users often struggle with issues like payment methods, store availability, and customer service. Many players cannot directly buy games or subscriptions with local debit or credit cards. Instead, they depend on gift cards, third-party sellers, or workarounds, which can be inconvenient and sometimes more expensive.

Despite these hurdles, the Bangladeshi gaming community continues to grow. Many young players are passionate about Xbox, but they hope Microsoft will officially expand services in the country. 1.Why are Bangladeshi phone numbers not supported?  

From what you've described, it seems you're having trouble adding your phone number to your Microsoft account. As noted, Bangladesh’s area code is currently missing from the list of supported options, which is a known issue. 

2.Do you have any upcoming plans to improve Xbox and account support in Bangladesh? 

Bangladesh is currently not included in the list of officially supported Xbox regions. As a result, many Xbox services, such as game purchases, certain features, and Xbox Live may be limited or unavailable. While Microsoft continues to expand regional support, there is no confirmed timeline for full availability in Bangladesh. 

3.Do you have a suggested alternative for Bangladesh users during this transitional phase? 

While waiting for better support, here are a few temporary solutions: 

-Use your email address instead of a phone number for account recovery and two-step verification and should add multiple recovery email addresses to improve account security. 

-Change your account region to a nearby supported country to access more Xbox features. (please note this may affect billing and language settings) 

-Contact an online agent: Contact - Microsoft Support > type the issue you need help with > Sign in with a personal Microsoft account > Click “Chat with Support Agent” if the option appears > Fill in your contact details so the support agent can reach you.
