Microsoft Surface with Maxim Integrated Power Meter

Question

I am in the process of running some experiments of measuring energy consumption of software, and to this I have found that the Maxim Integrated Power Meter should be very accurate.

This issue is that it is very difficult to find out which Surface devices has this chip. The ones I have found so far include:

• Surface Book
• Surface Book 2
• Surface Pro 3
• Surface Studio

Ideally, I would like a newer device, but I am unable to confirm if they have it. So, my question is: What is the newest computer which has this chip?

If your surface is up to date, and the Maxim drivers are up to date (Maxim driver support) you should be able to see a sensor named "Maxim Power Meter" inside the device manager, as can be seen on the image.

Thank you again for waiting for updates on this concern.

What I have is that the Surface Pro 7, 7+, 8, Surface Laptop Studio, Surface Laptop 4 (AMD) and Surface Laptop 3 (Intel i7) does not the chip for the Maxim Power Meter.

We would also welcome other Surface users here who can share on their inputs on their own devices. We'll leave this post open for now to give time for other members to share.

Thank you for your patience on this. So far what I have is that I was able to check on this on a Surface Laptop Go and was able to find that the Maxim Power Meter is not available on it. I have already raised this internally to make sure on other newer Surface devices. I'll get back to your once I have some updates or other details to share.
