Hello, Tauruxian Cheng
Welcome to the Microsoft community.
Thank you for your feedback. If other apps on your Windows device won't open, it may be caused by a system error, app malfunction, or system settings issue. I need to confirm your issue and you can send me a screenshot of the error that won't open. Here are some troubleshooting options:
- Apply Troubleshooting using Windows App Store
Open “Settings” > “System” > “Troubleshooting” > “Other Troubleshooting”.
Find and run the “Windows App Store Apps” troubleshooting tool.
Step 4: Reset apps
Open “Settings” > “Apps” > “Apps and Features”.
Find the application that cannot be opened, click on it and select “Advanced Options”.
Click the “Reset” button to reset the app.
- Check User Account Control settings
Open “Control Panel” and select “User Accounts”.
Click “Change User Account Control Settings” and make sure the settings are set to the recommended level so that you can avoid the app not opening due to permission issues.
- Use PowerShell to re-register Windows apps.
Right-click on the “Start” button and select “Windows PowerShell (Administrator)”.
Enter the following command in the PowerShell window and press Enter:
Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
- Deep Virus and Malware Check
Perform a full scan using Windows Defender, which comes with Windows, or a third-party antivirus program to make sure there are no viruses or malware causing problems.
- Create a new user account
Open “Settings” > “Accounts” > “Family and other users”.
Click “Add someone else to this computer” to create a new user account.
Log in with the new user account and try to open the application to see if the problem still exists.
- Try entering Safe Mode
Reboot your computer and hold down the F8 key at startup to access “Advanced Boot Options”.
Select “Safe Mode” to enter the system.
Check if you can open the application in safe mode. If it does, the problem may be caused by some third-party software or service conflicts.
- Reset your computer
Open “Settings” > “Update and Security” > “Recovery”.
Select “Reset this computer” and follow the prompts. Choose not to keep your personal files. Back up your important data before doing this.
I look forward to your feedback.
Best Regards,
