windows lose focus and need to be activated by clicking on icon on taskbar - Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview

I'm on Windows Pro Insider Preview build 26085.ge_release.240315-1352. I cannot get help from Support because of this. However, I NEED URGENT HELP!

I generally have several windows open (active on gaining focus by clicking on them) at all times. NOT!!
The last 2-3 days I've experienced a very annoying behaviour, as described above in the heading. I click on each open window hoping to regain focus, but it does not happen. It's as though Windows froze. I ran Task Manager to check whether resources were low (especially disk activity) but to my surprise, each time the % is minimal. Up to yesterday my system ran on 16GB of RAM and 56-60% of it was being utilized. To discard the option of RAM running low and going to disk, I upgraded to 32GB, to no avail. My RAM usage went down to about 16-20% but the symptoms continue.

I've discovered, by trial and error, that if I wish to work on one window (even MS apps, such as Outlook), I have to go to the taskbar and kind of 'pretend' I'm launching the app (even though it's actually open). This is not a third party app having issues, since Outlook suffers from it, too. My only suspicion is that QuickBooks 2019 Pro Desktop may be responsible, though hard to prove. Lately it's been crashing frequently, the last time -- 15 minutes ago -- with a C++ library error message and then crashing again.
Is anyone else suffering from this PRODUCTIVITY STOPPER?

    Hi gherna1,

Check the event viewer and post back more information about your error.

Once you know which app is causing the error you should be able to correct the issue.

Also run sfc /scannow and DISM
