Got the same error here, but during the installation problem: it will stuck at 20%, than rushes to 44%, finally to 100%, than the error is showed.Image

    Point 1

This is not the first time that some CU for insider channels use same KB number more than one time.

That KB5000842 has been released 15th (build 19043.899) and 25th of March (build 19043.906).

    Point 2

You can't uninstall those SSU's, but if you haven't clean up old windows update files it could be possible to uninstall that KB5000842 installed 16-03-21 which is shown in your screenshot.

    Point 3

Only those CU's that are available for released versions (here v2004 and v20H2) are listed in that support page.

As already mentioned there is bug with this update and MS is working on fix for that.

    Hello Friends ,

I have 3 points to mention about this

    Point 1 : this update - " 2021-03 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 10 Version 21H1 for x64-based Systems (KB5000842) " was already Successfully installed on ‎16-‎03-‎2021 itself .

     in the below image

but I do not know why it is trying to Download  &  install again and again ?

    Point 2 : after this (KB5000842) update installation on 16-03-2021 ,

Servicing Stack 10.0.19041.903 is installed on 26-03-2021 ,

Both updates cannot be uninstalled in the control panel

    in the below image

    Point 3 :  As the website ( https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/march-29-2021-kb5000842-os-builds-19041-906-and-19042-906-preview-1a58a276-6a0a-47a5-aa7d-97af2d10b16d

    says this update ( March 29, 2021-KB5000842 (OS Builds 19041.906 and 19042.906) Preview )

is for the version 20H2 only and not for 21H1

    in the below image

are these points valid ? and

But still, the error ( 0x800f081f ) is displayed after downloading and trying to install the KB5000842 update

    Regards ,

    Bhargava B U

Thanks Pauli for pointing OP to other thread.

To resolve, you will have to go back to previous version prior to .899 for the CU to install. Hopefully MS will correct this in April Patch Tuesday if we can even get them to admit there is an issue coming from .899

    Regards,

I'm trying to track this down.
