Cannot create Dev Drive

Hello,

I'm on Windows 11 Insider Preview build 23585 and Dev Home Preview 0.601.297.0.

I follow the wizard and create a VHDX with GPT partition table.

Then I reach this part of the process:

The only available option is Cancel button.

What is going on?

This issue has been officially resolved in build 23590.1000 of the Dev channel though not mention in any blog. As mentioned earlier, the format option was fluctuating (i.e. it was sometimes appearing and sometimes disappearing) even for me, but now issue seems to be resolved.

Alright. It seems Dev Drive is not working in this build....

I myself was able to create it...but now it doesn't seem to be working.

    Method 1:

For creating a Dev Drive (alternate method)

    1. Open Settings > System > Storage > Advanced Storage Settings > Disks & Volumes > Create a Dev Drive
    2. Once you reach the step where you are not getting the format option, click on Cancel.
    3. Open Disk management (diskmgmt.msc)
    4. Scroll down and create a new volume from the unallocated space.

    Method 2:

    1. After you create the Dev Drive (i.e. when you reach the part where you are not getting the Format option), click on Cancel.
    2. Open Command Prompt (Administrator).
    3. Type the following commands: format E: /DevDrv /Q E: is the existing hard disk partition which you want to convert into Dev Drive. Replace E: with the correct drive character according to your device.

Feel free to let me know. Also if prolonged issue is faced...file a Feedback on Feedback under Developer Platform > Dev Drive

    Thanks,

The error is that there's just a Cancel button in that dialog and the Format button is not there.
