Set Default Browser to DuckDuckGo

Question

I have set DuckDuckGo as my default browser on start up yet I still keeps loading the Edge browser.

I am getting really annoyed at this as it feels like an attempt to force those that pay for a product to intentionally override their selection.

How do I set the DuckDuckGo browser as my default once and for all?!

I don't want to use a Google Chrome extension.

What edition of Windows are you using - e.g. Home, Pro or Enterprise? If you don't know, right-click on the start button and select Run. Type winver and press Enter.

Thanks. If you're not happy about using variously dodgy extensions from the Google Chrome webstore, you might want to consider a slightly geeky solution which isn't available to Windows 10 Home users. Make a couple of additions to the registry to enable you to dictate precisely which site to open when you open a new tab: How to set a custom New Tab Page in Microsoft Edge - Microsoft Community
