Installing or updating Microsoft Edge on Windows 11
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
Hi, earlier today I've updated my Edge (using the standard method via "About Microsoft Edge) to the latest available version.
Since the update, Edge won't run at all. I've tried repairing it, reinstalling from the offline setup file but with null effect. From some other forums I see I'm not alone with this issue.
What's going on and how to fix it?
Sadly, I cannot restore, as I'm getting system restore error, even though the restore point was created as usual. The system seems to be fine - SFC and DISM don't find any issues. Looks Edge is messing up...

Many people are reporting that Edge is not running after this update. It's up to Microsoft to release a fixed build.
There is a workaround to get back to the old version 104 in the article below.

EDIT: confirmed workaround
All you have to do is go to regedit via Windows key + R and search for MetricsReportingEnabled under Edit -> Search . Delete the 1-2 entries and the Edge will start again.
Hi everyone,
We released version 105.0.1343.33, which resolves this issue. Microsoft Edge updater will update the browser automatically.
Eric
I see, thanks. Possible for you to uninstall that for a while for testing?
If ever there is something about Edge that you don't like or that isn't working as you'd expect it to, or if you have a suggestion for improving it, please use the feedback option within the browser to record it. It's unlikely that anyone from the Edge team will see posts in this forum, so complaints here will only be seen by other users and not by anyone in a position to do something about them.
To submit feedback, click the ⋯ icon labelled Settings and more at the right-hand end of the address bar, then select Help and feedback > Send feedback. Another way is simply to press Alt-Shift-i to open the Send feedback dialogue. Give your feedback a clear title in the first line to make it easier for the product team to identify and classify it, and give as many details as you can. You can include a screenshot to illustrate your text, and you can elect to include diagnostic data so the engineers can work out what was going on in the background when something went wrong. If you give an email address, you'll receive an acknowledgement and possibly some follow-up questions.
Hi Sumit, yes I do run Kaspersky Total Security 21.3.10.391, yet so far it hasn't caused any issues with Edge updates.
I've paused the protection for a moment and did the repair again, but Edge still won't run, even with my anti-virus off :(.
