No matter what I do, Edge shows Microsofts' search engine by default. They've made it so that no matter what you do, they want us to use Microsofts' search engine. Microsoft is a tyrannical company, a monopoly who's products I have no other choice to use because there are very few other options.

Hi XForce, I am Paulo and I'd like to help.

I'm sorry to hear you are having an issue with setting your preferred search engine. Is it continuously switching to Bing? Do you get any recommendation popup from Edge to set everything to default?

Please check the image below to set it to Google. Additionally, you can set your new tab page to Google, so it will load Google every time you open a new tab. This can be achieved with the help of an extension such as this.

You may also navigate to Settings > System > Notification & actions and toggle off the following settings

    • Get tips, tricks, and suggestions as you use Windows
    • Suggest ways I can finish setting up my device to get the most out of Windows
    • Show me the Windows welcome experience after updates and occasionally when I sign in to highlight what's new and suggested

I have the same issue. Constantly reverts back to BING (a silly name, but it is what it is).

It comes up briefly with do you want to change to MS recommended search engine Bing, Now or later.

    Restarted the browser, reverted.
