Hub Site Navigation missing on Classic Team Site on SharePoint Online

We have some classic team sites (site collections) that we have associated with a hub site. The home page of these sites are classic home pages. The hub site navigation is does not appear on these pages. When we browse to site contents (for example) or a document library and view this content using the modern UI then the hub site navigation appears at the top of the page.

How do we get the HUB site navigation to appear at the top of the site on classic pages?

    According to this Microsoft article, it is the default behavior.

    We recommend selecting a communication site, or a team site that uses the new template. If you use a classic team site, the hub navigation will appear only on modern pages, and hub site settings will only appear on modern pages.
