Nvidia Instant Replay msedge prevents desktop capture

I like to have Nvidia's "instant Replay" always active, but Edge disables it out of nowhere and I wouldn't want to have to lose my comfort in this browser because of this type of problem.

😿

I think it is due to a policy that does not allow it to record passwords or something like that, but the truth is I can't find where to disable that option

(msedge prevents desktop capture, please close the application or disable desktop capture and try again)

    Hello

I had the same issue, and it seems that Desktop capture, from the Instant Replay settings, if it is enabled, the instant replay cannot be enabled, and the recording is not working either.

    Here is the configuration:

    1. Open Nvidia Overlay - Alt +Z
    2. Select Instant Replay
    3. Select Configure Video Capture
    4. Make sure Desktop Capture is turned off

This worked for me when trying to record games, or other apps.(Tried to add images but for some reason "invalid image source detected" is showing)

    I hope it helps.

    UPDATE 08/January/2025:

I've found a solution to this problem! The issue seems to be related to DRM (Digital Rights Management) in browsers. By disabling DRM, ShadowPlay no longer stops recording on these websites.

I found a guide on Steam, which is a YouTube video that shows how to disable DRM in Google Chrome and Edge: https://youtu.be/SAhfXOHYOp0

Important Note: Disabling DRM in your browser will prevent you from viewing some content on certain streaming services that rely on it. To get around this, I simply use a separate browser that I rarely open for viewing content that requires DRM.

    Original Post (13/ December /2024):

I have two monitors, an ACER and an HP. The ACER monitor officially supports Nvidia G-sync and has the feature enabled, while the HP monitor does not.

My primary monitor, the HP, which records instant replays with ShadowPlay, only supports AMD FreeSync and does not have the "Nvidia Control Panel -> Display -> Adjust Desktop Color Settings, and set 'Content type reported to the display' to 'Desktop Program'" feature. The ACER monitor has this feature, but it doesn't make any difference because the HP monitor in the center is the one being recorded.

This issue started when the Nvidia app was released to the public. It wasn't present in the beta version, and the problem exists in both Game Ready and Studio drivers.

I tried to fix this issue using DDU by downloading an older driver from May, which still had Geforce Experience, and everything worked fine on all sites like Spotify, Apple Music, Netflix, etc.

However, the auto-update feature updated the program to the Nvidia app, and the error returned :(

Currently, I have an Nvidia graphics card. In the past, I had an AMD graphics card, and there was a feature in the driver settings called "Record protected content," which didn't interfere with DRM protection. I really hope Nvidia adds this feature in future updates because it's inconvenient when instant replay can turn off and miss important moments.

    Hi, Francisco Ramseyer

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Based on my personal experience and some information from the internet, this issue is likely related to DRM (Digital Rights Management) used by streaming services. If you do not have the relevant plugins or are not accessing such webpages, you can try going to the Nvidia Control Panel -> Display -> Adjust Desktop Color Settings, and set "Content type reported to the display" to "Desktop Program" to see if it works.

If this does not resolve the issue, you can seek further assistance on the Nvidia forums.

    Best regards

    Hi !
Unlike Francisco, the setting that should allow me to change "Content type reported to the display" to "Desktop program" doesn't show up.

    Any idea ?

    Thanks
