Installing Windows 10

So this may or not be a dumb question. I'm starting to learn about computers and I'm currently building my own. Well I bought windows 10 but accidentally bought the CD version instead of USB. My computer won't have an Optical Disk Drive so im trying to figure out how to install it. My friend has a CD to USB adapter used for installing Software such as disk copies of photoshop and such. Would this work if I was using it to install the operating system? Thanks.

    So long as the BIOS sees the USB to DVD drive as a boot device, then you can install Windows from the USB to DVD drive. Plug the USB to DVD drive into the computer, boot the computer, and go into the BIOS by hitting Del or ESC or F3, etc. Your board manual will tell you the key to press. Once in the BIOS screen, go to a screen that sets the boot order and see if the USB to DVD is listed. Insert the Windows DVD and reboot.

    Hi, others answers are good, and yes you can install via a usb dvdrom drive or use the media creation tool link.

    I just wanted to share that if you have another computer near you that can read the dvd, you can use rufus, a free tool, that can make a copy of the dvd and put it on a usb stick, to install that way with a usb stick.

    I always find it much slower to install from DVD than from USB flash media. I would just create your own USB stick as has already been suggested. After installation is complete, you can enter your Product Key to activate. Be sure to install the Edition that you bought. The standard download includes many Editions.

    I would totally recommend creating the Windows 10 installation media in a 16GB USB stick and that will be much easier.
