Context Menu Missing for Microsoft Edge Taskbar

Question

Hi. I've been having problems with Microsoft Ege which does not show context menu options such as "New Tab" and "InPrivate Windows" when right-clicking the Microsoft Edge taskbar.

Previously I had these options in when resetting my PC. However, after some updates, the context menu only shows "Microsoft Edge".

I found this previous thread on the same issue and tried all the solutions posted, however it doesn't seem to work.

I tried to resetting Microsoft Edge setting & and repairing the Microsoft Edge setting.

I went as far as uninstalling Edge by deleting the registry and deleting all files related to Microsoft Edge and reinstall it but all of these methods do not work.

Is there any way to enable the context menu for the Microsoft Edge taskbar?

I'm currently running :

Microsoft Edge version 114.0.1823.67

Windows 22H2 with latest update 2023-06 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5027303)

I don't think it is related to the Microsoft Account since there's no option for Edge to sync the context menu items into the account. I believe it has to be either a Registry setting or a profile problem. Can you please try this and see if it works?

• Unpin Edge from the taskbar
• Open the Start Menu > All Apps > Right-click Microsoft Edge > More > Pin to taskbar (Do not open yet)
• Go to Windows Settings > Personalization > Start
• Toggle off the option "Show recently opened items in Start, Jump Lists, and File explorer
• Turn it back on
• Open Edge > three dots > New InPrivate window then use it for a few minutes and then check if the issue is fixed

I've had made so many changes but all it took was to change the Start menu settings. It still weird that the Context Menu was missing just because I turned off the "Show recently opened item in Start".

I tried turning it back on and restart my computer. The context menu for "New windows" and "New InPrivate Windows" is still there.

I want to thank you again for your help! I really appreciate you're trying to solve my issue.
