Hello darb30,

Thank you for using Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

How long have you had this error appear for? Do you get this error at boot up or when you open a specific program? Have you made any changes to your operating system prior to getting this error? Any new Windows Updates or new software/hardware installed?

I would suggest running the steps below. Also, if you have any anitvirus/malware removal programs to scan you system. Please let us know status. Thanks!

Running the**System File Checker**
1.
Click
Start, click All Programs, click
Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and select
Run as Administrator.

2.
Click
Continue or supply Administrator credentials if prompted.

3.
In the
Command Prompt window type the following, and press Enter:

sfc /scannow

4.
You should see the following on-screen messages:

Beginning the system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.

Verification % complete.

5.
Once the scan has completed you will receive an onscreen message resembling one of the following:

…found no integrity violations

…found corruption but repaired it

…found corruption that it could not repair

6.
Please reply with the completion message that you received.

In most cases, a 0xc0000135 means means you are running .NET programs without having the correct .NET Framework version installed.

Use the utility listed here to verify what versions of .NET framework are installed on your computer.

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx

This .NET Framework setup verification tool is designed to automatically perform a set of steps to verify the installation state of one or more versions of the .NET Framework on a computer. It will verify the presence of files, directories, registry keys and values for the .NET Framework. It will also verify that simple applications that use the .NET Framework can be run correctly.

    Hope this helps.

    Marilyn

I have Professional XP. I followed all the steps but got no message at all in number 5 - no completion message. What do I do next? I tried to load my HP Document Viewer (which was what was suddenly giving me the error code with 'hpqgalry.exe - Application error' as the heading to the 'app failed it initialise message (oxc0000135)') and got the same message.

I did not load anything new on the computer before this happened, but my computer did crash 4 times last night when trying to read a powerpoint presentation that was sent to me by e-mail. Might this be linked? I have removed the e-mail and its PP attachment and did a full scan with my Prevx3 anti-virus programme. No viruses came up.

    Please help asap. Many thanks.

I HAVE ALSO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND HAVE FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS AS ADVISED - THE COMPLETION MESSAGE I RECEIVED WAS ''WINDOWS RESOURCE PROTECTION FOUND CORRUPT FILES BUT WAS UNABLE TO FIX SOME OF THEM.

DETAILS ARE INCLUDED IN THE CBS.log windir\logs\cbs.log for example C:\winsows\logs\CBS.log''

PLEASE CAN YOU ADVISE WHAT FURTHER STEPS I WOULD NEED TO TAKE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. I FIRST STARTED RECEIVING THIS MESSAGE AFTER MY FIRST INITIAL LOG ON AFTER RUNNING A BACKUP AND RESTORE ON MY COMPUTER.
