If my DOS application does not require FULL SCREEN mode and ran perfectly fine in a DOS Window under XP. The application is a FoxPro for DOS.

My question is;

If I install the "XP Compatibility mode" under the 64 Bit Windows 7, can I still run those DOS applications ?

    Hi CyrusNima,

    Welcome to Windows 7 Community Forums

    The Dos programs will run in Windows 7 64 bit edition if the programs are compatible with 64 bit editions.

    You can install each Dos application in XP compatibility mode. The steps are as below:

    1. Select the DOS application by right clicking on it.
    2. Select ‘Properties’.
    3. Click on the ‘Compatibility’ tab
    4. Place a check mark next to ‘run the program in compatibility mode for: ‘option.
    5. Click on ok and that should do it.

    Check the compatibility using the link below:

    The old 16bit apps of foxpro for Dos dont work under Win 64-bit. Only internal Windows commands run with 64.

    These classic apps usually dont need a install procedure, since run from BAT.

    For Foxpro Dos you can try load with right click properties.

    Another old 16bit applications for Windows cant work under 64bit, like Idapi libraries of Borland.
