If my DOS application does not require FULL SCREEN mode and ran perfectly fine in a DOS Window under XP. The application is a FoxPro for DOS.

My question is;

If I install the "XP Compatibility mode" under the 64 Bit Windows 7, can I still run those DOS applications ?

    Hi CyrusNima,

    Welcome to Windows 7 Community Forums

    The Dos programs will run in Windows 7 64 bit edition if the programs are compatible with 64 bit editions.

    You can install each Dos application in XP compatibility mode. The steps are as below:

    1. Select the DOS application by right clicking on it.
    2. Select ‘Properties’.
    3. Click on the ‘Compatibility’ tab
    4. Place a check mark next to ‘run the program in compatibility mode for: ‘option.
    5. Click on ok and that should do it.

    Check the compatibility using the link below:

    Hope the above information is useful.

    Thanks and Regards

    I use dosbox in linux.. There is one available for windows? The company I work for uses an old dos server/client system. It natively runs up to win me but xp required a compatibility mode. We have not been able to run it in win 7 64 bit... even using compatible mode.

    I use dosbox in the last three releases of Debian to do data entry in our antiquated database... (including X64) However the owner of the corp cannot get Win 7 64 bit to work with it.

    I tried Dosbox. It does not run my accounts program. It runs perfectly in 32 bit Windows 7. and ran in all previous windows versions without compatibility issues.

    Could it be because my program runs in 4 directories, and calls up windows in other directories, and updates files in other directories?
