Hi all,

strugling with an odd Problem here

I do run a Windows 2019 Server with AD and DNS configured. Servername is properly configured in DNS and can be pinged from another device, but not resolved.

As a result I cannot join the device to the domain.

Pinging Server **************
Ping wird ausgef hrt f r Server [192.168.40.11] mit 32 Bytes Daten:

nslookup Server **************
Server: server.domain.ch
Address: 192.168.40.11

*** server wurde von server.domain.ch nicht gefunden: Non-existent domain.

Domain exists, server has a proper A Entry in DNS.

When trying a domain join, NetSetup.log shows the following result:

As a result I cannot join the device to the domain.

Try using the netbios domain name

probably domain in place of domain.ch

    Hello,

Thank you so much for posting here.

We are checking in to see if the provided information is helpful. Have we tried it?

According to our description, we only have one DC with DNS configured, right? Have we checked DC health by running Dcdiag /v?

If everything is ok, we could follow the steps to join domain.

Logon this new server using local Administrator account, and set the Preferred DNS server, we need to set the IP address of  DNS server as the Preferred DNS server of this device.

    For example:
My PDC is also a DNS server, and the IP address of my PDC is 192.168.2.67.
And I want to add one new server to the domain of the PDC, I will set the Preferred DNS server of the new server as below:

    60073-clip-image001.jpg

Then join the new server to existing domain.

For any question, please feel free to contact us.

    Best regards,
    Hannah Xiong
