Hi,

1. Does it happen with all the applications?

2. What is the type of mouse you are using? Is it wired or wireless?

3. Is it a laptop or desktop computer?

4. What is the make and model number of the mouse?

Method 1:

I would suggest that you check if the mouse settings are correct.

1. OpenMouse by clicking theStart button, clickingControl Panel, clickingHardware, and then clickingMouse .
2. Click the Pointer Options tab, and then do any of the following:

Method 2:

If this doesn’t help, then try booting the computer in safe mode and check if the same issue occurs, here is the link:

I had a costant problem with my TOSHIBA Portege M780 - almost to the point of scrapping the darn thing.

I have found that if I use a bluetooth mouse and never touch the case, I have no further problem. Since I am a one-finger typist, that is easy for me.

I don't understand the reason for the problem - possibly induction, static charge or induced capacitance. Beyond my ken. Perhaps some EE could explain why this resolves the problem but I really don't care what the cause - only the solution.

Touchfreeze is the answer, it is a free download.  I tried everything and have fixed the problem on two Dell Inspiron Windows 7 computers with no negatives.  You can donate to the continuation of the website if you wish.  I am 68 and have no affiliation with touchfreeze, just hoping this will help someone, as it certainly can be frustrating to have your cursor jump while you are typing.  TouchFreeze-1.1.0.msi

I have touch freeze and Touchpad pal and still it jumps around.....
