I am running Office 365 Personal and I use the desktop versions of Outlook 2016. Periodically, when I start the application, a banner like the one shown below pops up. I don't want the mobile app because I use a different mobile client (one which is a tonne better than Outlook). How can I stop these messages? I have searched a lot online and have spent a long time with Microsoft chat support for Office. All the 'solutions' I have found involve submitting a request form to Microsoft , adding an entry to the registry , or adding different registry entries but it seems that these only work if you are running corporate versions of Office 365. During the support chat with Microsoft the Level 3 agent (giving advice via the Level 1 agent I was connected to) allegedly said that this couldn't be turned off in the Personal version of 365, but running Outlook in Safe Mode did stop the messages, which suggests there is a way to do it in the registry somehow. I have also tried running Outlook normally with ALL the plug-ins disabled, but it made no difference. I really hope there is someone out there who has found a solution for this as it really bugs me. Hi JadeLiang,

I can confirm that the solution which you have provided does work and turning off the 'Connected Experiences' does remove the annoying banner adverts for the Outlook app. However, it also stops a whole heap of other features within Outlook. These are listed in the Connected Experiences in Office. The one which I use most is the automatic completion of street addresses when entering a location for an appointment. I've managed quite well in the past without that, but I have had to look up specific details and the feature of Outlook doing this automatically is a real bonus. It is a benefit which currently outweighs the irritation of the banner advert, and so I have actually undone your solution.

Do you know of a way to specifically re-enable the address look-up without the annoying banner advert?

Thanks for your reply. I have indeed researched a lot but just found this option could work for it and it seems to would affect other connected experience, so we may need to choose what option that we need more now. Due to I haven't used the address look-up option before, I would continue to research for it and if I have any update, I would post back here:).

This does work but is a bit of a sledgehammer as it turns off a lot of other stuff. Maybe in the next decade MS will fix this dumb banner bug, but doubt I'll be notified - so I'll plough on missing all the useful connected features.

Thank you. The fact that the option exists for business users of Office 365 to turn off this banner (via registry) surprises me that it doesn't extend to home users as well. Perhaps it will filter through eventually. Perhaps they'll also sort out the "The item has changed" annoyance when moving something from one folder to another, but that is a different thread. (Seriously, though. Damned annoying!)

I have added my e-mail, but it wants me to "Sign me up for content updates, personalized recommendations, helpful tips, and more!" Why can't I just only select responses to posts? Why do I have to allow Microsoft to spam me with all the other bollocks?

It seems persistent, even after removing my e-mail address, logging out, clearing cache, logging back in, trying again, etc. etc.
