HP P2035n (network printer) is printing non-stop instead of a single page after upgrade to Win-7 from Vista Home Premium.

Does anyone have a solution? I have downloaded the latest driver for Win-7 from HP, still no luck. It was working fine with Vista. Every time I ask to print a test page, the printer prints it and does not stop printing it over and over.

I was able to resolve the problem by unchecking 'Enable bidirectional support' under Properties/Ports.

    Daniel,

I believe that the driver issue has now been fixed. If you are using Win 7 (64 bit), try to uninstall the printer and reinstall as a local printer. The standard driver that windows picks up should work fine. Please make sure that the printer is recognized on your network, which means it is turned on.

I just found out 4 weeks ago when my old driver refused to print unless I turned the printer off and on (I keep my printer on all the time). Then I uninstalled the printer and reinstalled using the old driver (PCL 5 family driver). It did not resolve the issue. So, I took a chance and reinstalled the printer using the driver win 7 picked up automatically. I was afraid it would keep printing as it did originally, but to my pleasant surprize, it worked normally. It has had no issues since then.

I am disappointed though that Microsoft that sold me Win 7 and HP that sold me the printer did not have the customer service to either resolve the issue nor communicate with me that they were aware of the issue or that they were working on resolving it.

I felt like once they sold their product, I was on my own to resolve any issues. When I initially wrote in this forum about the problem, a monkey called Gokul sent me form replies and kept sending those identical replies as if he was a machine rather than a person with a brain.

I gave up after he posted "helpful" reply the third time which never helped.

That is the price we pay buying products from large companies with outsourced customer support - that does not even speak or understand English.

    Hi Gokul,

The network printer works fine when I use another computer that has Vista Professional. However, when I print using two other computers that have been upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium, it keeps printing the same page over and over, non-stop.

I turned the print spooler service off and then on, as per your instructions. It did not resolve the issue.

I uninstalled the driver and printer, as per your instructions. It did nothing to resolve the issue.

I ran sfc/scannow and it told me there were no inconsistencies. It did not resolve the issue.

Finally, I uninstalled the printer and reinstalled it using HP PCL 5 family generic driver. Now it prints normally. However, the generic driver is unable to use some of the printer's features.

Since this issue has been reported by many others in this forum, I believe this is a driver issue that needs to be looked at and corrected by HP or MSFT.

Thanks for your time and hope someone can find a solution to this problem.

    Regards,

    Deepak

    Hi Gokul,

The network printer (HP Laserjet P2035n) had worked fine with Vista Home Premium. After upgrading to Windows 7 Home Premium, as soon as I print any document using the network, the printer keeps printing the same document over and over and does not stop until I turn the printer off. If I turn the printer back on, it keeps printing the same page over and over.

The driver for P2035n seems to be incompatible with Win7, as many other people have reported the same issue.

I have tried all the suggestions you offered but none of them resolved the problem.

Finally, I have uninstalled P2035n and reinstalled it using the HP PCL5 Family generic driver.

This has resolved the network printing problem and it seems to be printing normally. However, some of the features of P2035n will be unavailable as the correct driver is not installed.

I guess HP will have to rectify this issue because it is supposed to be their driver. I hope they will find a solution to this problem.

    Thanks,

    Deepak

    Hey DJ1955,

Thanks for posting in Microsoft answers!

    a. Does the network printer work fine with other computers or is the issue only with respect to a single computer?

Let’s stop and restart the print spooler service and check if the issue gets fixed.

    Follow the below steps:

    1. Click Start, type “services.msc” and hit Enter
    2. Scroll down to Print spooler.
    3. Stop the print spooler service.
    4. Start the spooler service again

If the above steps do not help, unplug the printer from the computer, uninstall the printer drivers and re-install the same again.

    To uninstall drivers,

    1. Open Programs and Features by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then clicking Programs and Features.
    2. Select a program, and then click Uninstall. Some programs include the option to change or repair the program in addition to uninstalling it, but many simply offer the option to uninstall. To change a program, click Change or Repair. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Refer the below link for more details:

    Uninstall or change a programhttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Uninstall-or-change-a-program

To install a program, refer the below link:

Also, refer the link below for more information on troubleshooting network printers:

    Method 2:

In addition to the above steps, you may do a System File Checker (SFC) scan on your computer. SFC tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of the system files by using the correct versions.

To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
    2. Right-click cmd in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue

    1. At the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER:

    sfc /scannow

Check the below link for details:

    Hope this helps!
