Messages/Conversations deleted from Group Mailboxes get deleted forever on a single soft-delete

Hi,

I am unable to recover messages/conversations deleted from group mailboxes after a single soft-delete from OWA.

This issue has been discussed before at:
151834

However, the solution provided by @Vasil Michev does not seem to work / no longer works, because the message gets deleted forever, without going into the Deleted Items folder, either of the Group Mailbox, or of the User Mailbox who performs the deletion.

I can confirm the exact same behaviour that was described in detail by a commenter J.C. Bartle on the abovementioned link.

Furthermore, I confirmed that such messages once deleted could not be recovered even after a Content/Discovery Search.

This implies that the message is permanently deleted as mentioned in the above delete confirmation dialog.

What can I do to recover such deleted group messages, and more importantly stop this system behaviour of permanently deleting group messages without any trace or possibility of recovery, even after a content/discovery search and even after a retention policy being in force?

Please help. Especially @Vasil Michev

Thanks vey much.

Avril

    @Avril

    The permanently delete isn't a real "permanently delete", it just delete email from user side, this email still exist in server side if in-place hold exist.

    You need to enable in-place hold for this Office 365 group:

    If this group has in-place hold, you will could find this deleted email from in-place hold:

    Then, you can recover emails from the PST file.
    For more detail information, you can have a look about this article: In-Place eDiscovery
