Hi, everytime I restart my computer, the Virtual Memory keeps resetting itself. It keeps switching back to "No paging file" and the "Performance Options" window keeps popping up when I restart my com.
I've tried to set to "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" and even "System managed size" but it resets when I close the window. When I try to reopen the window, it give me this pop up:
"Windows created a temporary paging file on your computer because of a problem that occured with your paging file configuration when you started your computer. The total paging file size for all disk drives may be somewhat larger than the size you specified"
Please help !

I am also having this problem but I don't have any printers etc attached.
I have run sfc as suggested but it reports no problems.
I don't appear to have AFS.sys running either.
I am running the 32bit version on a Dell XPS M1530
Anyone any other ideas to try?
I have this problem also, but on a forum serch for that problem, there was a second thread and Augustine the Geek answered with the instructions below:
Hello Tonilynn,
Thank you for using Microsoft Answers Forums.
Solution:
The following error message displays:
Your system is low on virtual memory. Windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file.
1. Open System by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System.
2. In the left pane, click Advanced system settings. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3. On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.
4. Click the Advanced tab, and then, under Virtual memory, click Change.
5. Clear the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives check box.
6. Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file you want to change.
7. Click Custom size, type a new size in megabytes in the Initial size (MB) or Maximum size (MB) box, click Set, and then click OK.
Optionally, you can adjust this setting manually by selecting Custom, entering numbers into the two fields under Custom, and then click the Set button:
o In the first field, the number should be twice the amount of system memory (in MBs).
o In the second field, the number should be four times the amount of system memory (in MBs).
might be worth a try!
I am having the same problem. Every time I restart the control panel for System Performance comes up and says there's no page file. I have used all the suggestions above and still the page file settings disappear (i.e. no page file). I have also tried using msconfig and clearing all started services except MS services and clearing all startup programs. I still ge the same problem. I am using a fresh install of Windows 7 on a 2 gb RAM system.
I have this same exact problem with an upgrade from windows Vista to Windows 7 home premium. I have tried all these suggestions and nothing works. I have contacted ms several times and they cannot resolved this sytems.
