Error: "Error-Printing" while trying to print.

Original title: Printer no longer prints

My HP5650 printer will not print now--I suspect something has changed in the registry settings, but I can't find info to fix it. I've tried all fixes suggested on-line.  I  tried re-installing the printer. With HP Diagnostics, I'm showing 2 printers now when there is only one.    When I try to print a document, the status simply says "Error-Printing" with no further information.  Mr. Fix-it says I have no problems... Help!

Hi,

1. Did you do any hardware/software changes on your computer prior to this issue?

2. Which troubleshooting steps did you try to fix this issue?

3. How are you trying to print?

Let’s try the below steps and check if this helps.

Step 1: Try connecting the printer to different USB ports and check for the issue.

Step 2: Try using the different USB cables (If you have any) for the printer and check.

Step 3: Try deleting the print jobs from queue and check.

Here is how you do it:

a. Open command prompt with elevated privileges.

b. Type net stop spooler and press enter.

c. Type net start spooler and press enter.

Note: Turning off the printer and turning it back on also might do the same job

**Step 4:**a. Delete all the printers and its related softwares.

Refer: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Add-or-remove-a-printer

b. Set Print Spooler service to automatic and restart the computer. Then connect the printer and check.

You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.

   I. Click on start button, type services.msc and press enter.

II. Right-click the Print Spooler service (In the services window), and then clickProperties.

III. On the General tab, next to Startup type, make sure thatAutomatic is selected.

IV. If the service is not already running, under Service status, clickStart, and then click OK. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

 V. Restart the computer.

VI. Connect the printer and check for the issue.
