How can I delete the "Frequent" list within Windows Explorer?

This "Frequent" list exists when you pin "My Computer" to the taskbar and then right click on the folder.

The reason I want to delete the "Frequent" list is because it intrusively is located below the desired "pinned" list and the Frequent list is also a privacy issue where a guest to my computer can see all the files I have ever visited.

    Hi

The only way to do this is to right click the Start button and select Properties. Remove both check marks from the options in the Privacy section.

Note: This is a global setting and will apply to all program pinned to the Taskbar.

    Hope this helps.

Thank You for using Windows 7

Thank you very much. I had moved a couple of directories, and broke my WE's "Frequent" context menu. Even moving the files back didn't solve the problem.

Still a bit of a hammer of a tool, but a better one than offered by Ronnie.

I didn't realize that it would takeout ALL the context menus, including those in the Start menu, but I'll build them again.

Also, I realized that I could have looked at the dates, but I got all Click-Itchy, and deleted them first.

you really only need to uncheck the bottoms checkbox.  the top one is the one that removes the start menu programs and the bottom one will remove the frequented files list from the taskbar items
