    Hello

    Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forum!

I would suggest you to follow the steps below to generate a system health report for windows 7 and windows vista.

    1. Open Start Menu.
    2. Right click on "Computer" and click "Properties".
    3. In the System Properties window, click on your Windows Experience Index rating.
    4. In the Performance Information and Tools window, under "Tasks" in the left-hand options pane click "Advanced Tools".
    5. Under Advanced Tools window choose "Generate a system health report" at the bottom.

If you're running Windows XP, there's a simple system health monitoring tool available right at your fingertips. The tool can be found in the Help and Support Center.

RE: MS maze ritual to run a SYSTEM HEALTH REPORT

This 5-step process (which actually requires you to make 7 clicks, plus actually running the report) does work in Win7, though it begs the question on why it is so hidden/convoluted; earlier OS were a simple direct Control Panel link. Then more confusion, as the finished product is called a "System Diagnostic Report". Whether you run it to send to a support site, or just your own info... be sure to save a dated copy; and if you're having computer problems that may prevent access, then print out a hard copy immediately (the whole report will take 4-5 pages). And FYI... you will ALWAYS get an "informational" warning about "missing events" in the Event Tracing for Windows test due to various problems (inc. buffer settings); if you run 2 consecutive Health Reports... these missing events will magically decrease some (mine went down from a shocking 43% to a merely irritating 20%). But at least the final result will give you a wonderfully thorough system report.

IF such a report is of value, MS should revisit/simplify generating this report ASAP. It almost seems to have been deliberately complicated/confusing.
