I recently updated Windows 10 and only then did I start to get the .COM error when running QuickBooks. I don't want to do a rollback of the Update because of the Security issues but may have to in order to get QBooks to work.
Using QuickBooks get Crash: Com Error
While Using a part of Quickbooks, I receive a "Crash: Com Error" Message. After I click OK on the window, all of Quickbooks shuts down. After about 4 hours on Intuit Tech Support they told me that this is a windows issues. Does anyone have any suggestions? I heard something abour fixing the registery for Vista, but could not find it on this site. Thanks.

2017-12-26T20:09:19+00:00 This is a temporary fix that may help some users. Am using QBPro2016 w Windows 7. I keep Windows updated. Have not had this error until recently. Was able to create a temporary work around until QB and Microsoft figure out a fix. Close QB. Disconnect computer from wireless network or unplug cable access. Make sure not connected to internet. Open QB. After QB opens, can plug cable or connect to wireless network. QB stops giving the Com Error and internet access is restored. This worked for me.

2017-12-28T16:09:22+00:00 Thanks to all those who took the time to share their experiences with Quickbooks Com Error. A few days ago, I downloaded a QB update and today I e-mailed an invoice without the crash. So I'm assuming that the problem was fixed by QB. Thanks again all.

2017-12-28T19:11:11+00:00 WarningU2, I made no previous changes to Office 365, so no reinstatement was necessary. Quickbooks sent an update which I effected and that seem to have resolved the problem.
