I can't figure out how to scan multiple pages into a document on Windows 7 using Windows Fax and Scan program. Using the same printer, (Canon MX300), I can scan in multiple pages to a single file on my old XP using Windows Office  Document Imaging. It works great. I tried downloading that program to my Windows 7 machine and I can scan, but the pages come up blank! Can anybody help me get this figured out?

    Hi Jilamen,

If you're using a scanner with a document feeder and Windows Fax and Scan, you can scan multiple pages to a single file by scanning to the TIFF (.tif) file format. For more information, see:

Scan a document or photo with Windows Fax and Scan: **http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Scan-a-document-or-photo-with-Windows-Fax-and-Scan**

If you use Windows Fax and Scan and a flatbed scanner, you can likely scan multiple images to separate files. Not all flatbed scanners have this ability, so you might need to contact the scanner manufacturer to obtain a driver so that your flatbed scanner can provide this option.

    Refer:

    Scanning: frequently asked questions: **http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Scanning-frequently-asked-questions**

I would also suggest that you update the latest drivers for the printer from the link below:

MODI is part of Office and requires the rest of Office to be there. You can also use a PDF writer like PDF-Xchange Viewer to import your scanned pages into a multi-page .PDF file and fax it.

I am also hugely disappointed that Microsoft Office Document Imaging has disappeared in the Office version 2010 as I used it hugely to archive multi-page documents and it did OCR them.

    Hi,

I'm afraid I've tried this several times without success - I have a Lexmark all-in-one X8350 printer/scanner. It simply won't scan multiple pages to one file - even using the Tiff format. Any ideas please?

There are two solutions I know of

    1. There are a number of .PDF creation tools that will allow you to import pages into a .PDF document, which you can then fax a a single, multi-page document.
    2. If you have access to an Office 2007 install CD, you can use it to install just the Microsoft Office Document Imaging portion of it and use MODI to combine individual scans into a single, faxable document. Please see:
