    HI,

    Method 1:

Check theVolume shadow copy service in services window. To check follow these steps:

    1.      Click on Start

    2.      In the start Search box type Services

    3.      Right Click on – Run as Administrator

Check if the below mentioned services has the mentioned status and start up type.

Volume Shadow Copy Service                   Started              Automatic

Also check the dependency services that are required for Volume Shadows Copy Service to run.

To check that double click on the service and click on the dependency tab.

    Method 2:

Disable the firewall/ anti-virus temporarily installed on your computer and then check if the issue still persists. If the issue resolves, then you might need to uninstall the software and reinstall it back or change the settings and check.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 3:

Alsocheck a drive for errors: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Check-a-drive-for-errors

    Refer to:

    Hope this information is helpful.

This is an old post, however, the answer marked as "Correct" is only partially correct. It does not cover situations when the computer contains an OEM partition. I am providing additional information here to help others who have this issue and come across this post. However, the solution has a high risk and should not be attempted by a novice or any non-technical person. For this reason I will only provide the information, but will not provide a step-by-step guide. Experienced users and admins will understand how to apply the solution. It is recommended that all others contact an admin or other professional for assistance.

CAUTION: Always back a full backup of the system before attempting any changes.

WARNING!!: Make sure an antivirus software is installed, up to date, and a full system scan performed before proceeding. It is also a good idea to install and run a malware program such as Malwarebytes prior to making changes.

Issue: The Microsoft "Create a System Image" will fail if the system partition is marked as "OEM". This is due to an OEM partition type being hidden. The process to create a system image cannot access this partition, thus it will throw an error.

Note: It may also fail if another, non-system, partition exist and is marked as OEM (this is untested).

To determine if you have an OEM partition:

    1.    Open Disk Management

    2.    In the volume list look for a partition with a status of "Active, OEM", "System, OEM", "OEM", etc.

Note that the volume name/label is not what you are looking for. You are looking for "OEM" in the status.

If an OEM partition existing then you will need to change the partition type to a non-hidden, readable, partition type. The standard NTFS type for Windows is 07 (zero seven).

WARNING!!: Once you change the partition type to an accessible type, the partition is vulnerable to corruption, virus', root kits, etc. Once you've created the system image change the partition back to type DE (OEM Hidden).

You have dual boot on this machine?

If so, here's the problem. Windows needs access to the system boot partition.

If the other OS is on another HD, consider unplugging it paara start Windows 7 through its own boot loader (hidden partition "Reserved by the system").

If the other system is on another partition, Sujiro the use of third-party software for the task.

    Stay well ...
