I have an icon on my desktop titled: "Appliled Tech, L.L.C...url" but when I click on it this msg appears:

"An unexpected error is keeping you from deleting the file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem?

The error code is: "0x80004002: no such interface supported".

Please help?

    Hi,

    Follow these methods:

    Method 1:

Boot intosafe mode with networkingand see if you can successfully delete the file.

See Advanced startup options (including safe mode) for instructions on booting into safe mode with networking.

    Method 2:

If method 1 does not help, reset Internet Explorer settings and delete the file.

Run the “Fix it” from the following article:

How to reset Internet Explorer settings

    Disclaimer

Please note that resetting Internet Explorer (IE) settings will reset all user-defined settings including those set by installed extensions, toolbars and other add-ons to IE Defaults. This includes all Security, Privacy and Zone settings. Also this will clear browsing history, delete all temporary Internet Files, cookies, form data and especially all stored passwords.

I came across the same error a few minutes ago, albeit mine was while using Microsoft Security Essentials.  Under the 'Settings' tab, I un-checked the 'Turn on real-time protection' box. When I pressed the 'Save changes' button, the UAC pop-up appeared and asked if I wanted to allow MSE to make changes. When I confirmed that I did want the changes made was when the pop-up appeared from MSE giving me the error code.

I have tried the resetting of internet explorer, but to no avail. I wanted to shut off MSE to run SFC or DISM. I'll try to accomplish this in safe mode with networking, but in the meantime, if anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. For all I know, maybe that's what was messed up, that led me to have to repair system files...

I will have my boss' son try this method (his problem). I'd told him to do exactly these methods yesterday, but he doesn't think I know what I'm doing and wanted to me ask a "professional."

I thank you VERY much for your response. It verifies that I DO know what I'm doing. hahaha

I will let you know if this works.

I get this same error when I try to map a drive to my home NAS. I'm not trying to delete or copy any files, just map the drive! Any suggestions?
