I am using Windows 7 Professional. I tried to install Guitar Pro 6 on my PC. This software needs Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable to run. But, this installation gives following error.

Error 1935. An error occured during the installation of assembly. Microsoft.VC80.MFC.type='win32'.version='8.0.50727.4053',publickeyToken='1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86".

After this error, Windows update is also not working.

Thanks Segundo N. Campero for providing solution. My problem was solved.

    Please refer to the following:

I had the same problem installing Corel X5.

The problem was solved by starting the Trustedinstaller Service. Same programmes (as ArcGIS) during the installation inactive the service and avoid automatic restart it.

Is posible that the service Trustedinstaller do not appear in service list. So you should change the registre value to "active" in the system register.

    To do this, you should:

    1. In Windows, click Start > Run...
    2. In the Run window, type 'regedit'. In the Registry Editor window, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control.
    3. In the 'Registry Editor' dialog box, double-click on 'RegistrySizeLimit'. This opens the 'Edit DWORD Value' dialog box.
    4. In the 'Edit DWORD Value' dialog box, enter ffffffff as the 'Hexadecimal' value. Click on the 'Decimal' radio button, and enter 4294967295 as the 'Decimal' value. Click OK.
    5. Reboot the machine.
    6. Log in as an Administrator and open a Command Prompt and run 'SFC /SCANNOW'.

    (Procces was taken from: http://resources.arcgis.com/es/content/kbase?fa=articleShow&d=37477)

After the proces is completed, re-install the programme which showed you problems to install.

I hope you found solution with this comment.

    Hi sgtbluebunny,

since every piece of software you install uses some version of that dll or c++ package, it's it's either corrupted or gone or maybe messed up in registry.

Save yourself some time...format and reinstall. It will cost you a couple hours, but save head-aches in the long run.

However, you can always go over to the Technet forums and post there.

After going to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control, there is no Registry Editor' dialog box that I can find and when I go to Find and type in RegistrySizeLimit, it does not exist in any of the Registry. I am using Windows 7 with Service Pack 1. I have used the .NET Repair kit several times and still I get the error 1935 when I attempt to install C++.

Any help (ANY) will be greatly appreciated.

This problem seems to happen if the computer crashes during a Windows Update or maybe a simple install/uninstall of one application.  Once that error 1935 occurs, it will happen even if you try to install Visual C++ 2005 or 2008 runtime directly using their separate redist exe.

the only solution that worked for us was:

    http://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-update/5116-windows-update-not-working-cant-update-important-files-2.html

    here's a simple synopsis:

first try running Windows Update. There are probably some updates (such as .NET) that are stuck and won't install either.  Allow any other updates you want to run and then reboot b/c next you need to manually clean the folder used by the updates.

next, start a command prompt using Run As Administrator, then

    fsutil resource setautoreset true %systemdrive%\cd /d %SystemRoot%\System32\Config\TxRattrib -r -s -h *del *

Nothing else worked except this fix on my Win2K8 server. Thanks SomeCoder!
