MS Teams login infinite loop

Hello,

our client has an issue with MS Teams. They were using MS Teams using their e-mail set up on custom e-mail server using @contoso.com domain. Now they have introduced an AD deployment using this domain name and domain accounts naming, including Exchange and other Office supporting products. They would like to use MS Teams using their personal accounts, however when trying to login to MS Teams using their domain-joined computers now, some of the users receive information to select the Domain/Organization and whatever they choose, they are redirected to login screen after a while. This question pops up even when they select the personal account. They are not able to login to Teams at all, the login screen just works for a while and redirects them back to login.
We have already tried to clear the cache of MS Teams and reinstalling the whole application. Unfortunately, it did not help. How should we proceed?

Up to 10 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 3.0 MiB each and 30.0 MiB total.

Another update here is they have different accounts in the domain (some people have 2 accounts in the domain - the regular ones and admin ones) and some users had success logging in to their personal accounts using one of those accounts, but not the other. Some users could also login using their local admin accounts, but not with domain accounts. There is not specific rule to that, what I mean some can use their regular accounts for MS Teams, some can only login using local administrator domain account (which has different login name than their personal MS Temas account) and some cannot use their domain accounts at all and can login only using local account to log in to their personal MS Teams account.

@Victor-9731,

Could you provide us a related error message if has?

To exclude the account side issue, try to login Teams web client(https://teams.microsoft.com) in InPrivate mode.

If it works properly, try the following steps:

  1. Remove all accounts from Windows settings > Accounts > Email & Accounts.

  2. Search for Windows Credentials > Choose Windows Credentials > Remove all entries with a line meteams_

  3. Try to login to Teams again.

If it has no luck with web client in InPrivate mode, contact the IT admin to check if there is any related error message in Health status of Microsoft Teams from Microsoft 365 admin center > Health > Service health.

If the response is helpful, please click "Accept Answer" and upvote it.

Hello, thank you for provided information, I will forward it for testing and will let you know if it helped.

Related to your question about error message - there is none. After selecting the organization the application seems to be trying to log in the user and then just moves back to username selection screen without any error or prompt (seems to reach a timeout of some sort?). Trying to log in again just creates the same result.

@SharonZhao-MSFT hello, thank you for your reply. We are currently addressing this thing in between our daily work, so it unfortunately takes some time. Please accept my apologies for late reply, as I thought it will be tested the next day, but the client did not have time for that at the moment and is doing it after work.

The client did some testing and could not finish step 1. as the only account he had is linked to his domain account. As I am unsure if that was the issue, I linked also the article:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-other_settings/no-remove-button-for-microsoft-account-in-windows/bda1598b-ee49-435e-877a-62aed90d149c?page=1

I am currently awaiting the response about the results.
Oh, and I don't know if I mentioned it earlier - the client can login to Teams without any problem using the web client. It is the software client which is acting up.

Hello @SharonZhao-MSFT , I would like to confirm that solution posted by you resolved the issue, with following remarks:
1. The Users could not perform step 1, as they couldn't see the "Remove" option - only "Manage", but the link posted by me before (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-other_settings/no-remove-button-for-microsoft-account-in-windows/bda1598b-ee49-435e-877a-62aed90d149c?page=1) solved the issue.
2. After following your guide, the users received login errors around 3 times in Teams application. Each time the error occured there was a prompt to re-login, and on 4th try it started working. After restart of the system, the error does not reappear anymore. Unfortunately, I do not have the error message screencapped, only received the information about it happening.

Thank you very much for your help!

I have used two hours now running through all kinds of "helpful" posts to get out of this obscure infinite sign in loop..
I'm a professional programmer working on a windows pc, so I have tried to use a windows computer once or twice to say at least.

It is absolutely mindblowing how MS continues it's contribution to ABSOLUTE UNUSABILITY in Windows...

It is impossible to sign in or out to Teams! (MS in all it's glory is trying to log me in with an account that's deleted by my former employee)
` I cannot delete my former work account from "Accounts used by other apps"!

Think about it: I can see cached chat entries from my former employee in Teams behind the login popup, and then MS want's us to believe they can handle sensitive data, yet to mention GDPR.. What a joke!!

Following all the steps above didn't solve this.
What did solve it was to complete the steps to uninstall completely and remove everything from keychain and Application Support folder.
Finally - download an older version of Teams- 1.4.00.4971 worked for me.
I am now able to login with a new account.
