I am not able to set AAD Admin to Managed Instance where as I could set for Azure-SQL

Setting my group/my ID as Active Directory Admin is resulting in failure with below error
Failed to update active directory admin for managed instance: test-managedinstance.
ErrorCode: undefined
ErrorMessage: Gateway authentication failed for 'Microsoft.Sql'. Diagnostic information:
But where as I am able to do it successfully for Azure-SQL in the same subscription and RG.
Any help in this regard is highly appreciated. Thanks!!

Thank you for your post! Would you be able to provide some more details below regarding your issue, this way I can gain a better understanding of your issue.- Can you share any documentation that you're following to set this up?
- Are you trying to set an "Active Directory Admin" to your managed instance? Or "Azure Active Directory Admin"?
- Since you're able to do this successful within Azure SQL, is this on an Azure SQL DB? Or SQL server on an Azure VM?
Any additional details or screenshots would be greatly appreciated!
